Grad and Prom Event Success Guide
Simple planning notes to help your grad, dry grad, prom, or post prom entertainment run smoothly.
Start Here
Thanks again for booking the Jesse Lewis Comedy Hypnosis Show.
This guide is meant to help your planning team with the practical parts of the entertainment portion of the event. You do not need to use every section. Just use the pieces that fit your school, venue, schedule, and audience.
The goal is simple: make the show easy to plan, easy to introduce, appropriate for the event, and fun for the students and guests.
1. Where the Show Fits Best in the Schedule
Grad, dry grad, prom, and post prom events often have several moving parts. There may be dinner, photos, speeches, awards, dancing, activities, food, prizes, parent volunteers, staff supervision, or late-night programming.
The show works best when the audience is together, seated, and ready for a feature entertainment moment.
Best Times
- After dinner
- After speeches or awards
- After the formal program
- As a feature entertainment block
- During the dry grad or post prom activity portion
- Before students split into several different activities
Times to Avoid
- During meal service
- While students are still arriving or taking photos
- During noisy transitions
- When the audience is split between multiple rooms
- Too late after the room has lost focus
- When another major activity is happening at the same time
Simple Schedule Example
Doors open / arrival
Dinner or social time
Speeches, awards, or formal program
Comedy hypnosis show
Prizes, activities, dance, food, or late-night programming
2. How to Describe the Show to Students, Parents, and Staff
You do not need to overexplain hypnosis before the event. In most cases, it is better to describe the show simply as clean, interactive comedy entertainment.
Student Announcement Copy
We have a comedy hypnosis show planned as part of the event. It is clean, interactive, and volunteer-based, with students becoming part of the fun.
Parent or Staff Reminder Copy
As part of the grad/prom event, we have booked Jesse Lewis with a clean, interactive comedy hypnosis show. The show is volunteer-based and designed to be appropriate, organized, and fun for the event.
Short Program Description
Jesse Lewis Comedy Hypnosis Show
A clean, interactive comedy hypnosis show where volunteers from the audience become part of the entertainment.
3. MC Introduction Copy
A short, clear introduction works best. The MC does not need to explain hypnosis in detail.
Simple MC Introduction
Our entertainment is a clean, interactive comedy hypnosis show with Jesse Lewis.
This is a volunteer-based show where members of the audience become part of the fun. Please give a warm welcome to Jesse Lewis.
Dry Grad or Post Prom Version
We have a feature entertainment block planned next with Jesse Lewis and his clean comedy hypnosis show.
It is interactive, volunteer-based, and designed to be a fun part of the evening. Please welcome Jesse Lewis.
4. Room Setup Tips
The show is flexible, but the room setup can make a big difference in how well students and guests connect with the performance.
Ideal Setup
- A clear performance area or stage at the front of the room
- Audience seated where they can clearly see the show
- A working sound system and microphone
- Enough room for volunteers to sit comfortably
- Lighting that keeps the performance area visible
- Minimal noise from other activities during the show
- One main contact person available before showtime
Important Room Note
The show works best when the audience is facing the performance area. If students are scattered around the room, standing in groups, or split between activities, the show will not have the same focus.
5. Sound and Technical Notes
Good sound matters. The audience needs to clearly hear the instructions, comedy, and interaction throughout the show.
Please Confirm
- Will there be a sound system in the room?
- Will there be a working microphone?
- Who is responsible for the sound system?
- Is there a stage or clear performance area?
- Is there power available near the performance area if needed?
- Will music, speeches, or other activities use the same sound system?
- Is there a venue or school contact who understands the AV setup?
6. Supervision and Event Flow
For student events, the show works best when the entertainment portion is treated as a scheduled feature with clear supervision and a clear transition into the show.
Helpful Planning Notes
- Have one main adult contact for the entertainment portion
- Bring the audience together before the show starts
- Finish food service before the show if possible
- Pause other major activities during the show
- Make a clear announcement before the show begins
- Keep the room focused once the show starts
- Have staff, parents, or volunteers available if needed for event flow
7. What Not to Overexplain
It is usually better not to give students a long explanation of hypnosis before the show.
The show includes its own introduction and volunteer process. Too much explanation ahead of time can make the audience overthink it.
Keep the Description Simple
You do not need to explain who can be hypnotized, how hypnosis works, or what volunteers will do. Keep the description simple: clean, interactive comedy hypnosis entertainment.
8. Best Fit by Event Type
Grad or Dry Grad
The show can work well as a feature entertainment block after the formal program, during the dry grad activity portion, or as a scheduled entertainment moment before students move into other activities.
Prom or Post Prom
The show can work well after dinner, after the dance portion, or during a post prom activity block when students are together and ready for something interactive.
